As Director of the RIE I enjoy managing the Institute to ensure that the best possible studies and support are offered to the teacher trainees and students joining the Institute. I have been associated with the Institute since 1985 in different capacities with a brief stint in between at Post Graduate Govt College, Chandigarh. I have also done some work for media organizations like The Tribune, Punjab Today and CNN.

I am an ELT professional involved in curriculum design and material production besides teaching Linguistics to MA students and Principles and Practices of Teaching English to teacher trainees.

In my spare time I like to read, go for long walks, watch films and occasionally make documentaries or publish articles and books.

Hello! I am Bindu Bajwa, an Associate Professor at the Institute and currently the HOD of Undergraduate Studies. My association with the RIE Chandigarh dates back to 1988 when I started teaching on proficiency / bridge courses for foreign students from countries like Angola, Vietnam, Cambodia etc. Since then the Institute has offered me many opportunities for growth as an ELT professional through a variety of assignments which included a wide range of teaching contexts.
As a teacher educator I have been engaged in teaching, training, designing curriculum, material production and mentoring junior faculty.
I am an avid reader, and also enjoy listening to music and watching films. I like to dabble in photography, and a bit of writing as well.

Hi. I am Vandana Lunyal, Associate Professor at the Regional Institute of English, working here since 1990. I am the HOD of Teacher Education at the Primary Level. Since the day I joined this institute, I have been associated with a number of courses having diverse themes and audiences and supervised projects in primary education. As a teacher educator, I have always enjoyed doing need based courses for school and college teachers and teaching at different levels.
I am very much interested in all kind of innovations for teaching English. If I find any time to spare I catch up with my sleep and the recent films that I might have missed.  I also love to write poems when I find time.

Hi everyone! I am Gunbir Kaur, an Associate Professor at the Institute. I had the privilege of becoming a part of the RIE faculty in 2006. I have around 22 years experience of teaching English to college and school students of different disciplines like arts, sciences, engineering and commerce  in institutions such as Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and others.

 In RIE, I have been working as Coordinator of Studies for PGCTE course - a core course of the institute for three years. I am actively involved in teaching Grammar to teacher trainees.

Apart from teaching, reading and writing, I indulge in creative works like designing, painting, cooking in my spare time. I also find solace in my own company and love to meditate

Hello. My professional involvement with the English language began in 1978 while still a fresh graduate of the M.Phil program at the University of Kurukshetra. In the three decades since then, teaching in various colleges of North India, I've seen young students in undergraduate courses in colleges everywhere, struggle for even a basic understanding of the English language. The couple of years I worked with the Board of School Education helped me in addressing this problem because I was where the curriculum of an educational course is formed. I could understand the intention behind every lesson in every book that comes to the student's desk. I've tried to work out the essentials of possible research in the future into how our courses might be better designed to address the problems of our students who stumble all too regularly. My first year at the RIE, to me, promises new insight into the learning challenges postgraduate students of English face.

Hello. My name is Pooja Sharma. I joined the institute as a Assistant Professor in English in September 2008 and am the HOD of Postgraduate Studies. Since the time I joined here, I have been working on the production of study material for SSA and PU, taking PGCTE classes of Methodology and am busy guiding MPhil scholars of different universities through their research.   

I have nine years of teaching experience behind me. I have worked as a Lecturer in English with Haryana Govt., selected by the HCSE. Since 2002, I have worked in different capacities including president literary societies while teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes in various institutes and colleges at Chandigarh and Kalka (Haryana).

My other areas of interest include writing both Hindi and English poetry, listening to music and singing songs and cooking.

Hello. I am Geetanjali Bhagat and I am an Assistant Professor at the RIE. I am also the Public Relations Officer of the Institute, which means I have to bridge the gap between the RIE and the other institutions. My association with the RIE is a recent one though I joined the Chandigarh Administration in 2006 following my selection through the UPSC and have served as lecturer in English at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh..   

I would be teaching Post Graduate classes and would be taking care of various curricular as well as extra curricular competitions at the Institution.

In my spare time I like to paint, sketch and occasionally write poetry. I also enjoy reading fiction, listening to sufi music and watching films.
