POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

M.A. English (Co-educational)

The Institute started M.A. English course (affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh) from July 2010. It is one of the few Institutes in the region where MA English students have a Language Lab, with 1:1 student-computer ratio, allotted exclusively to them with language software and round-the-clock internet services.

The admission in MA (English) for each academic year usually starts in the first week of July through Online Centralized Admission Process conducted by the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration. The programmme has semester system and admission is given on the basis of counselling conducted at the Institute.

 The Department of Postgraduate Studies was established in 2010
 The course MA (English) is affiliated with Punjab University, Chandigarh
 Syllabus and Examination system prescribed MA English by Punjab University is followed.

Eligibility Criterion

  • Academic Weight-age 60%
  • A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. 40%
  • Interview  40% (at the time of counselling at RIE)
  • Weight-age for Punjab University 5%
  • Weight-age for Honors (English) 15%

  • X Mark Sheet in original and self-attested photocopies
  • XII Mark Sheet in original and self-attested photocopies
  • BA Mark sheet in original and self-attested photocopies
  • Migration Certificate if applicable (May write an undertaking on the day of counselling if result not declared till that date)
  • Certificate/Affidavit of identity if claiming any kind of reservation for admission
  • An affidavit from the competent authority for Gap years (Refer to the prospectus)
  • Passport size photo of the applicant and the family
  • Identity Proof

Fee Structure and Mode of Payment:

Fee payment will be cashless as per Chandigarh Administration guidelines. Refer to the 2019-20 prospectus of Chandigarh Administration for detailed Fee Structure

Hostel

  • Availability of Boys’ Hostel: Yes (On Campus)
  • Availability of Girls’ Hostel: Yes (to be provided on sharing basis at nearby Govt. College Hostels)

  • Workshops on Creative Writing, Film making and other themes and topics are organized during the academic session
  • Community Outreach Programs are conducted for connecting the students to the larger public of the adjacent areas
